Spring 2013 Online Arts Administration Award for Academic Excellence Recipients Tuesday, May 14, 2013 Spring 2013 Online Arts Administration Award for Academic Excellence RecipientsMay 14, 2013Congratulations to Drexel online graduate students Rebecca Brown, Laura Dailey, and Sara Qureshi, the 2013 winners of the Westphal College of Media Arts & Design’s Online Arts Administration Award for Academic Excellence.This honor is awarded each Spring term to the three online Arts Administration students with the highest GPA in the program. “This award means a great deal to me because it acknowledges the progress I've made thus far in completing my master’s degree and highlights the beneficial impact my master’s degree could have towards supporting non-profit arts organizations in the future,” said Dailey.Dailey is in her second year of Drexel University Online’s Master’s in Arts Administration program. She currently works in marketing in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area at IXI Services. Pursuing her passion for theatre, Dailey is also the social media coordinator at 1st Stage Theater, a volunteer at theatreWashington, and a member of the marketing and season planning committees for the McLean Community Players.“In addition to the flexibility that Drexel University Online provides, I like the professors who have introduced me to issues facing non-profits arts organizations across the U.S.,” said Dailey.Qureshi began the Arts Administration program in Fall 2011. For nearly 14 years, she has worked in the field of educational puppetry, developing educational puppet programs, performing in schools and other venues, training puppeteers, and providing technical assistance to puppet troupes around the world. Brown is a Philadelphia resident beginning her thesis for the Arts Administration program. A former high school English and writing teacher, she currently works in the Office of the Dean of Westphal and is the editor of One Miracle at a Time (OMaaT), a quarterly charity magazine that publishes original art and writing and donates the proceeds to charities and causes worldwide. “We’re very proud to recognize this year’s winners of the Academic Excellence Award,” said Dr. Jean Brody, director of the Online Arts Administration graduate program. “We congratulate these outstanding students on their achievements and look forward to many more.” This year’s winners join an accomplished group of students and alumni to have won the award in previous years. Previous years’ winners include Sarah Merritt, Tom Fervoy, Eddie Sugarman, Hadia Mawlawi, Catherine Hinkle and Nicholas Dragga.
