Main Line Today’s Healthcare Heroes Features Drexel Online Student

    May 1, 2013

Recently, Drexel University Online nursing student Donna Rugh was featured in Main Line Today’s Healthcare Heroes segment. Like many of our amazing nursing students, Rugh is juggling a work/life balance while attending school online.

“With small children and working almost full time, I am not sure how I could fit everything in if I had to be in class on time,” said Rugh. “The convenience of an online education is appealing to busy non-traditional students.”

Rugh is raising five children ages 2-12 and coordinates her kids’ cyber-school education. She also works weekends and part-time during the week at Bryn Mawr Hospital, providing medical care to patients who are often under insured and un-insured.

With so many different online nursing programs available, Rugh explained her primary reason for pursuing a Drexel online degree was because “Drexel's nursing department has an amazing reputation and is highly respected in the nursing field.”

“My experience with the professors at Drexel University has been impressive,” said Rugh. “Their level of professionalism and experience is mind boggling to me. I would love to download their brains!”

Rugh is working towards her bachelor’s degree in nursing and has found that her favorite part of her degree program is the ability to write about topics that interest her and apply to her specialty.

“I was able to turn a power point from one class in to a lunch and learn at work,” said Rugh. “I am able to advance my practice and education at the same time. How wonderful is that?”
