Drexel Online Learning Council Fellows Present at INTED2013

    March 6, 2013

The seventh annual International Technology, Education and Development (INTED) Conference is currently taking place in Valencia, Spain. The general aim of the conference is to promote international collaboration in education and research. This year, the conference is expected to have more than 700 delegates from 70 different countries in attendance.

We’re so proud to announce Drexel will be represented at this conference!

The College of Nursing and Health Professions’ Karen Goldschmidt, Karyn Holt, and Fran Cornelius will be highlighting the work accomplished by Drexel’s Online Learning Council (OLC).

“We are excited to have the opportunity to disseminate the work of the OLC fellows at an international conference,” said Cornelius. “Drexel University’s pioneering initiatives have placed us in the forefront of online education and our presence at INTED will provide opportunities for future collaboration with other educational institutions in the global environment.”

Drexel’s OLC fellows will be presenting four different topics at the INTED2013 conference, including:

    1) If You Build It, Will They Come? An innovative approach to shift the culture of a University

    2) Challenges and Realities of Academic Integrity: Best practices for instilling sustainable change in students and faculty

    3) Professional Development for Online Faculty: Meeting diverse needs through a centralized initiative

    4) A Mini MOOC: Outcomes of a gateway introductory course for online learners

“The OLC has come to recognize the enormous challenges that are inherent in transforming the online teaching culture of an academic institution,” said Holt. “Drexel has addressed these challenges head on by incorporating a unified vision and the infrastructure, manpower, dedication, and drive to propel Drexel to a position of leadership in online education.”

Drexel University Online has been providing Internet-based higher education since 1996, and now has more than 7,000 unique students from all 50 states and more than 20 countries pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or certificate.

“We place a high value on quality online programs that are innovative and engage students with faculty experts,” said Goldschmidt. “At INTED, I will have the opportunity to present The College of Nursing and Health Professions’ Mini MOOC initiative to educators from all over the world. INTEND really positions Drexel in the international spotlight as U.S. leaders in online education.”
